Under federal law, individuals who do not have health insurance or who choose not to use their health insurance for health care services may have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of scheduled services.

A Good Faith Estimate explains the expected charges for health care items or services that are reasonably expected to be provided.

You may also request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling qualifying services.

If you receive a bill from a provider or facility that is at least $400 more than the amount shown on that provider's or facility's Good Faith Estimate, you may have the right to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.
